How to Clean a Microfiber Couch?

But, before you begin, you will need to determine what type of microfiber furniture you have in your house. You can check this by looking on the tag of your furniture. It will be having one of the following codes on it.

  • ‘W’ Code means that you must use water based cleaning solution.
  • ‘S’ Code means that you must use a “solvent” based cleaner.
  • ‘S-W’ Code means that you can use S or W type cleaners.
  • ‘X’ means that you can vacuum only and no water or solvent based cleaning solutions.

1.) Steps to Clean a Microfiber Couch With ‘W’ Code

Steps to Follow:

  • Take a small amount of mild laundry soap and mix it into a bucket filled with cold water.
  • Now, take a clean washcloth and dip into the soapy water.
  • Next, use this washcloth to moisten the stained areas of your microfiber couch.
  • Keep on dipping and blotting the stained area until you are sure that the stain has gone away.
  • After that get rid of any excess water using another dry washcloth.
  • NOTE: Do not allow water to puddle or pool on your furniture. And, once the fabric is completely dry, vacuum to restore the nap.

2.) Steps to Clean a Microfiber Couch With ‘S’ Code

Steps to Follow:

  • First, you will need to sprinkle dry detergent on the affected area of your microfiber couch.
  • Now, you will need to massage it gently using a soft-bristled brush.
  • After brushing thoroughly, leave the detergent on the couch for as long as suggested by the instruction on the product label.
  • Finally, vacuum the couch thoroughly in order to get rid of all of the detergent.
  • Alternatively, you can blot the area either using rubbing alcohol or dry-cleaning solvent.
  • Leave it to sit for a couple of minutes.
  • Then, you will need to dry the stained area using a clean washcloth (just blot and do not rub).
  • As a final step, you will need to restore the nap by combing the microfiber using a soft-bristled brush.

3.) Steps to Clean a Microfiber Couch with ‘X’ Code

Steps to Follow:

  • For this type of microfiber couch, you will need to loosen the dirt and dust using a soft-bristled brush.
  • Next, you will need to vacuum the couch thoroughly with the help of brush attachment.
  • NOTE: If your couch has stubborn stains, do not ever use harsh chemical cleansers, acetone or bleach on this type or even any other type of microfiber furniture. If used, this will damage the fabric severely.
