1.) Brush to Clean UGGs

  • Take a suede brush and comb the outside of your boots.
  • This will help get rid of any large spots or stains of dirt that could be stuck on the outside of your UGG boot.
  • It will also help in softening the nap and preparing the boot for the further cleaning process.
  • You can buy a suede brush at most of the good shoe stores.

2.) Saturate the Outer Surface of your UGGs

  • For this step you will need to make your boots a little wet. Do not make them dripping.
  • You can make them wet by soaking a clean cotton cloth in cold water, squeezing out the excess water.
  • Then gently rub your boots with this damp cloth.
  • Ensure that the entire outer surface of your boot is wet, as it will be easy for the cleaning product to clean it.

3.) Clean UGGs Using a Cleaning Product

Steps to Follow:

  • Take a small amount of cleaning product on a damp sponge.
  • You can use any product but it is suggested to use specifically designed cleaner made for UGGs only.
  • However, you can use any suede shoe cleaner. You can buy from any good shoe stores near your place.
  • In case there is no product available, you can easily make your own cleaner.
  • For this, you will need to mix equal parts plain white vinegar and water.
  • Though this cleaner is not “Ugg approved” but it has been used successfully by other Ugg owners.

4.) Sponging to Clean UGGs

  • Now, use a sponge to apply the cleaning product onto the surface of your UGG boots.
  • You can begin cleaning from the top and work your way down.
  • Pay special attention on the dirtier areas.
  • Be sure that you scrub the boot thoroughly and gently. The sheepskin and the leather underneath are very delicate, so avoid cleaning forcefully as it will ruin the condition of your boot.
  • Do not miss out any spots. In case you don’t apply cleaner all over the surface, it may result in water marks on boot.
  • If your sponge becomes during cleaning, rinse it out to prevent dirt from re-depositing on other parts of your boot.

5.) Rinse the Boots Off

  • Once you are done with the thorough cleaning of the outer surface of you boots, wash off the cleaning product completely from it.
  • You can perform this action by holding the UGG under cold stream of water. You can also do this by using a wet cloth to get rid of the cleaner.
  • In case you use rinsing method to clean UGGs, remember to rinse as fast as possible.

6.) Stuff Boots Using Newspaper

  • When the boots are wet they tend to lose their shape. So it is very important that you stuff your shoes lightly using some newspaper crumbs or with the help of paper towel. They can dry into the correct shape and will also help UGGs dry naturally.

7.) Dry UGGs after Cleaning

  • Let your UGGs dry for about 24-48 hours.
  • It is very necessary for Uggs to get dry naturally. Keep them away from sunlight or from any direct heat source.
  • This is because; too much heat can cause your boots to get loose and wrinkled, which will ruin their appearance.
  • However, you can boost the process slightly by keeping a silica gel pack at the bottom of each boot. This helps in soaking up moisture fast.
  • You can go for a boot dryer to speed up the drying process.

8.) Give Finishing Touch after Cleaning UGG Boots

Steps to Follow:

  • Once your UGG gets dry completely, take a suede brush and rub the surface of your boots. This will even out the nap and remove any matting.
  • It is suggested that you spray your boots with a protective spray after brushing.
  • For this, you can buy – Ugg’s Water and Stain Repellent. This is very effective in keeping your boots clean and protected in future.
  • To use the spray, hold it about six inches away from your boots and spray it evenly until the whole surface of the boots is covered.
  • Now let the boot get dry in a well-ventilated area. Prevent it from direct sunlight and heat. Keep it about 24 hours at least.
  • Afterwards brush your boots again before you wear them.
  • In case you don’t have Ugg’s Water and Stain Repellent, you can go for any protective spray which is designed for suede boots. Use it in the similar manner as suggested above.
