1.) Freezing Method to Get Gum Out of Carpet

Things You Will Need:

  • Some Ice cubes
  • A Plastic bag
  • Spoon or dull knife

  • Take a small plastic bag and fill it with a few pieces of ice.
  • Now, rub the ice over the gum to freeze it.
  • Then, take a spoon or a dull knife and scrape it away. Get rid of the removed gum immediately as otherwise it will soften and stick again to the carpet.
  • Repeat until the gum is removed.

2.) Hair Dryer Method to Get Gum out of Carpet

  • Hair dryer
  • Plastic bag
  • Soft cloths

  • This method is completely opposite of the ice method. Here you will need to heat the gum to make it pliable to scrape it away easily.
  • Take a hair dryer and heat the gum affected area of your carpet. When heating, be careful and do not to overheat as it may burn the carpet fibers.
  • Once you find that the gum has become soft, try to pull it gently out of the carpet fibers.
  • You should cover your hand with a plastic bag or a rubber glove. This will help you pull the gum out of the carpet with your fingers. Try to remove as much as you can, and then move to the next method to remove get gum out of carpet.

3.) Method to Get Rid of Remaining Residue

You Will Need:

  • WD-40
  • Peanut Butter
  • Oil soap ( which is used for cleaning wood)
  • Soft cloths
  • Soap
  • Muscle Pain Reliever
  • Water

  • Once you get rid of most of the gum, you can remove the residue left behind using this method.
  • Apply either WD-40 or Peanut Butter on the remaining gum area. Both of the items have lubricating quality which will help remove the gum from the carpet fibers easily.
  • Apply wither of product to the remaining affected area.
  • Work on it gently using your fingers.
  • Pull or blot the area gently using a soft cloth to remove the gum. You may also scrape the area with your fingernails.
  • Once the gum is removed, you will need to clean the area to get rid of the residue.
  • Take a small amount of soap or dish detergent and mix it with warm water.
  • Now, take a soft cloth and soak it in the mixture. Blot the affected area using this soaked cloth. Keep on blotting the area until it is completely clean.
  • After that, rinse the area by blotting with a clean cloth.
  • Press on the cleaned area using a clean and dry cloth to remove any excess moisture.
  • Let the area dry naturally. Avoid stepping on it until it is completely dry.
  • Also, keep your kids and pets away from the area till it gets dry.
