Things You Will Need to Remove Wax from Carpet:
- A table knife
- Three brown paper bags cut into pieces large enough to cover the spill
- Several ice cubes
- A plastic bag
- A vacuum cleaner
- An iron
- Rubbing alcohol
- Several white cloths
- Clear household ammonia (maybe)
Steps to Remove Wax from Carpet:
Step 1: Removing the Obvious Wax
The first step is to remove wax using a table knife as much you can. This makes a lot easier to completely remove wax from carpet. Then place a few ice in the plastic bag and place this over the stain to harden the remaining wax. Wait for five minutes and then remove the ice bag and use the knife to peer up any additional wax you see.
Step 2: Vacuuming the Spot to Remove Wax from Carpet
The best way to do this is by using the upholstery attachment. You should work at the base of the fibers to lift and suck away the additional wax.
Step 3: Liquefy the Remaining Wax
Now to remove the remaining wax you need the iron on to its lowest setting without steam. Do not directly run the iron on the wax. Place the brown paper on the wax and then run the iron keeping it in constant motion. Stop immediately as soon as the wax seeps into the paper. Replace old brown paper with a new one and repeat the process until no more wax lifts up.
Step 4: Repeat the Above Steps
If you still see some wax remaining on the carpet, repeat the steps 1-3.
Step 5: Get Rid of the Stain
Everyone loves colored candles and chances are that the wax on your carpet is colored. So even though the wax is completely removed the stain might still there. To remove stain you need to pour a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol on one of the white cloths and dab at the stain. You should soak only that area where the stain is present as rubbing alcohol can ruin the glue that binds your carpet fibers to the backing. You should change clothes repeatedly as the coloring can transfer from your carpet to the cloth.
Step 6: Check for Remaining Stains
While working with household ammonia you should open the windows as this is going to smell. To get rid of any left out the stain, you need to mix rubbing alcohol with ammonia. The solution will create smelling salts. Although, it’s not going to hurt you but is stinks. Place a clean white cloth over the stain and run your iron over the paper with steam setting on. Run the iron in a constant motion. After some time you will notice the stain is transferring to the cloth. Change the cloth if needed and repeat until the stain is gone.
Step 7: Finish the Job
This is the final step in the whole process of removing wax from carpet. Now, you need to remove left over ammonia on the carpet. Dampen a white cloth and dab the area where ammonia was applied. Allow it to dry then vacuum it thoroughly to lift the lie-down. The wax candle gives a really awesome feel but once you drop wax on carpet it takes the lot of work to remove wax from carpet. So, you should use candles that match your carpet or switch to LED candles that give the pretty flicker without ant worry.
